2.6 Keep Active

Immediately start go for walks (preferably somewhere it is green), keep active, walk to the shops rather than wait for a bus.

Get some  waterproof walking shoes, (much to my wife`s horror I wore climbing boots everyday everywhere for two or three years!)

Get waterproof ones so that it does not matter if you step in a puddle of water. This is useful as it is difficult for us to see the ground easily and in any case we are normally working hard just to see where we are going!

Now set yourself a goal, say just ten minute walk, that is five minutes out and five minutes back. Remember every ramp. slope, kerb, driveway, tree root etc,

Now go for longer walks, work out the safest and smoothest routes. Green is good for the eyes so build in as much countryside and parks a s you can.

Then it is easier to choose to walk rather than use a bus or have to get a lift or use a taxi.

Now you are starting to be able to control YOUR life and therefore to rebuild it.

Now you can look out for other activities like swimming, bowls, tennis etc.

Every walk is a WIN, every day a WIN.

Practical Steps, every achievement is a WIN.

You can rebuild your self-reliance, resilience and self-confidence.
